Product Description

Proprietary yeast strain from Rogue breweries in Oregon. Ferments very clean with little or no esters which will highlight your grain and hop flavors. Massive attenuation will ferment just about everything it can get its cells on, leaving you with a low final gravity for crisp, refreshing brews. It prefers to ferment in the 62 to 64° range, but it can handle temps down to the mid 40′s and up to 70° depending on what style you are making, which makes it a great all-around workhorse yeast for any beer that you want to completely ferment. Great flocculation characteristics leave your beers clear, too. Try it in a Barley Wine!

Profile (from Wyeast): A versatile yeast strain from one of Oregon’s leading craft breweries. Pacman is alcohol tolerant, flocculent, attenuates well and will produce beers with little to no diacetyl. Very mild fruit complements a dry, mineral finish making this a fairly neutral strain. Pacman’s flavor profile and performance makes it a great choice for use in many different beer styles.

Beer Styles: American pale ale, American Amber Ale, American brown Ale, Brown Porter, Cream ale, Irish Red Ale, Strong Scotch Ale, Dry Stout, American Stout, Russian Imperial Stout, American IPA, Imperial IPA, American Barleywine, Fruit Beer, Spice / Herb Beer, Vegetable Beer, Christmas / Winter Specialty Spice beer, Other Smoked Beer, Wood-Aged Beer

Possible Subtitution: Mangrove Jack’s US West Coast Ale Yeast M44

Don’t forget an Ice Pack for shipping. Make sure your yeast arrive home safely.

This yeast has quickly become my favorite “clean” yeast. It is not just another yeast either. You can use and abuse this yeast and it will take it. Ferment it cold, it doesnt care it will keep eating away. It is my go to yeast over 1056 or WLP001.

Just used this in a SMaSH Brew this weekend, 1000mL starter and this stuff was flying high in less than 2 hours. It was a very strong and fast fermentation, OG of 1.060 and it was still going strong this a.m. I highly recommend it and will be using this one again.

    :

I’m brewing a Southern English nut brown ale. Dumped 75 degree cooled wort in my conical fermenter and aerated it for 20 minutes. Pitched a 1 liter yeast starter at 12:30 and had an active fermentation at 4:00! This yeast rocks! I’ve never had any yeast start visible fermentation in less than 6 hours before. I’ve found my new go to yeast strain!

What a wonderful and versatile yeast. So great for all of those clean styles. I made a low-gravity Irish dry stout with it that was amazing. I made a 7.5% India Red Ale with it that was amazing. I’ve washed the yeast and made it my house strain, and I continue to use it for anything that requires a clean fermentation that lets all of the ingredients shine. Like others have been saying, I now use it in place of 001/1056/US-05. I favor the taste, and it’s more flocculant, so the beers are beautiful!

I use a lot of California Ale, American Ale II, and San Diego Super Yeast. I saw the Rogue Pacman and decided to give it a shot. I made a 7.5% grapefruit IPA. The fermentation was fast and vigorous. A few weeks later I sampled. Amazing. Very clean and refreshing. Truly let the hop characteristics shine. I think this may be my new house strain.
