The removable tip keeps the end up out of the sediment. Precision designed for smooth, leak-free operation.
Easily cleaned and sanitized. Fits 5/16" or 3/8" tubing.
Also available the new Auto Siphon Clamp for 3/8"

Works with just one firm pump. If you pump too slowly sometimes a bubble will get trapped at the bend, but another pump will clear it out. Try it a few times with water before you use it on the real thing.
I use it with 3/8" tubing, and I don't have problems with leaks as described by another reviewer. I am able to use the auto siphon for bottling since my bottling bucket does not have a spigot. There are no problems with losing the siphon between bottles.
I can't comment on the effectiveness of the removable tip since I don't stick the auto siphon directly into the sediment as not to disturb it.

This does make racking a lot easier. However, I do have two comments:
When using 3/8 tubing, the siphon seems to let in air. Two well placed zip ties or perhaps some Sugru will solve the problem.
It's not made of very strong material, so be gentle. I dropped mine while cleaning; it fell straight down and cracked down the middle.
Regardless, I'm still ordering another one.

It works just like it's supposed to. I've used it to move about 60 gallons of beer overall and haven't broken it, which is what some people seem to have trouble with. Just push down at the bend in the cane. Don't snap it like a twig by using leverage and pushing the extension from the bend. Physics is your friend.

Very few of the tools and equipment I have built or purchased for brewing have helped to make my life easier than the auto siphon. Getting wort from the brewpot to the fermenter, from the fermenter to the secondary, and then to the bottling bucket are now simple, painless tasks.
I did manage to break my first one trying to remove the tubing so I bought another one and a three-foot length of hose which stays attached permanently. Hose is cheap and I consider this an essential tool.

This is a really great product for all manner of homebrew-siphoning duties. I have used mine for many months.
During a routine cleaning, however, as I was removing the tubing ... <CRACK> The end of the siphon broke.
It would be perfect (5 stars) if it were made of a more resilient material ... hmm ... stainless perhaps?
That being said, next brewday, I SHALL have a new one on hand. It is a necessity for me.

I bought this siphon and used it on my first batch. It worked like a charm. started the siphon, kept it flowing, nice fast, almost as good as a pump. Alas, the bad part. Put it to work on my second batch and.... Houston.... The end of the siphon broke off (on the first pump) which makes it just another racking cane... Great product, but cheap construction.

Using a standard racking cane and tubing is an exercise in patience. Often it doesn't even work.
The auto siphon fixes this completely. It's the equivalent of having a remote for a television -- it's that important.
