Product Description

40 plate wort chiller with SMARTDesign technology. Finally a plate chiller that makes sense. This chiller has been custom designed for Rebel Brewer to our specifications.

304 Stainless steel corrugated plates brazed with copper. 1/2" FEMALE pipe threads for the wort in and wort out. Standard Female garden hose threads for the Cooling water in and out. Comes with an easily replaceable female/female swivel fitting for the business end of your garden hose. Also comes complete with a backflush hose for easy cleaning (other companies sell these separately or don't even offer one).

This 40 plate chiller offers .48 square meters of cooling surface, which can easily handle a 10 to 25 gallon batch of hot wort.

We also offer a RebelSmart Thermocouple attachment to easily monitor outflow temp and control flow-rate right at the chiller.

Make sure to use Teflon tape on the threads for a good seal.
Can be used with a pump OR gravity fed (but we highly recommend a pump).

    Recently, a buddy of mine started brewing and needed a method to chill his wort, so I sold him my Shirron (intending to upgrade to a Blichmann Therminator.) After reviewing the specs on the Chillhog 4000 and talking with a very helpful associate at Rebel Brewer, I decided to opt for the chillhog (and RebelSmart temperature gauge) and I am absolutely thrilled with its performance! I dropped my wort to 65 degrees in less than 5 minutes (for a 5 gallon batch) and was able to make small adjustments to the flow-rate to control temperatures. It worked as promised, and considering that the system ships complete with the chiller, back flush assembly female/female hose adapter it was a great bargain. The female-threaded wort-side connections were a real plus, too. The chillhog AND the RebelSmart thermometer assembly still cost LESS than a Therminator! Don't get me wrong; Blichmann is outstanding (I use a 10 gallon Blichmann Boilermaker kettle), but for my dollar, this chiller was a better deal. If you're considering upgrading or buying a plate chiller, get this product; it's a winner.

    Used the Chillhog and RebelSmart for a double brew session and was thrilled with the performance. Using the ball valve on the RebelSmart I was able to watch the temperature change with each adjustment until I was at the exact temperature I needed. Comes with all of the accessories you could need (Even though I somehow lost my female/female adapter in 4 days). I used Stainless QD's to go with the rest of my system and pump the beer with a March pump.
