Product Description

Easy to make Ale version of the classic German Oktoberfest.
Pours deep red and very malty.

Comes with the Windsor Ale dry yeast, it will leave it slightly fruity with some residual sweetness.
If you wish to lager it in the traditional way, just request lager yeast in your order notes.

    This is my first Lager. I brewed this back in the first of July. I used the Lager yeast so it fermented in the fridge. After a couple of months(varying the temps), I kegged it and and let it carb. I gave it a taste today and it turned out great! The beer is smooth, malty and clean tasting. Maybe I can hold off until October and let it condition a bit more.

    This was my first 5 gal. batch after stepping up from mr beer. I followed the directions exactly*. After 5 weeks in the primary and 2 in the bottle it is already great. Having just come off the oktoberfest season, the style is fresh in my memory, and this beer stands up. It was a bit bitter at bottling, but has settled down nicely. I can't wait to taste it in a few more weeks.

    * I later learned that you should not leave the steeping grains in above 170 deg. due to tannins being extracted from the grain causing bitterness, but I did not experience this problem.
