Well, here it is, the book that started all this mess way back in the late 70's. Now in it's third edition, completely revised and updated.
This is definitely one of those "if you only have one book" books. It takes you from A to Z and helps you relax about the whole thing.

The title, Complete Joy of Home Brewing says it all. This book got me excited about brewing as I laughed, daydreamed about the next batch, and made the transition from extract to all-grain. Charlie Papazian has a great sense of humor as well as a knack for simplifying complicated or intimidating material for the novice brewer. This is a great starting point for anybody interesting in brewing their own beer and in my experience, makes a great gift for those interested in brewing their own.
Cheers!

I've been brewing now for 3-1/2 years, and this book has helped me through every single transition. From the first brew, to all-grain, to kegging and just about anything in between and beyond, this book will always be handy. It's also a great reference for recipes and recipe building.
If you homebrew, you need this book.

Charlie Papazian is and has been THE homebrewing expert for many years. This books is an excellent resource for the intro brewer and for those who want to take the leap into all grain brewing.

This is an excellent reference that helps make it all easy. I own a few brewing books, but this one is one of the best. I am rereading it now. The recipes alone are worth the cost of the book.
