Smoky, Black and incredibly Hoppy, we can’t think of a better way to spend a bitterly cold winter evening than enjoying a pint of this in front of the Fireplace DVD you’ve been waiting to use. This kit utilizes a new seasonal malt from Briess, Blackprinz, for an very smooth toasty dark malt flavor that blends well with several caramel malts and the gentle smokiness of authentic German smoked malt to provide the perfect backbone to the hop celebration that is 4 different hop additions of Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial.
The yeast provided is an appropriate American Ale strain.

I like black IPA’s. I have brewed this kit twice, both with very good results (and comments from fellow drinkers of BIPA’s). I like the way Rebel pre-packages the hop additions – makes life on brew day simpler. Directions are very good. Followed the recipe for brewing – then 9 days in primary, 28 days in secondary (with dry hops for the last 5 days). Patience really helps. Enough smoke flavor comes through to distinguish this BIPA from others. A nice dry, hoppy finish. Excellent head retention and lacing. I’ll brew this one again.
