Caramel Malts are also known as Crystal Malts (usually in European influenced brewing)
Basically they are “mashed” for you, therefore they don’t have to be converted. They are
available in a wide range of colors and flavors (the higher the lovibond, the darker the
color and the more intense the flavor). Use up to 15%.
Briess Caramel 80 can be described as having a pronounced Caramel and slightly burnt sugar or
It’s dark red in color and it also helps with head retention. Use for darker ales or Christmas beers.
